I was tasked with designing a mechanism that would adjust the pressure level experienced by a vacuum. I came up with a rail and insert design. I milled the aluminum rail in the first image, and I laser cut the inserts after designing them in Solidworks. The inserts come in three different widths and slide onto the rail and into the vacuum as seen in the bottom image. The engineer I designed this for liked my design so much he asked me to duplicate it so it could be handed off to someone in the software department.
